Thanksgiving in Manila
So there was the party that S-- and I lost a lot of sleep on (though the sleep I lost was nothing compared to S's), that turned out just the way we had all planned it to...

where an engagement was announced and cheered on
+and+his+fiancee.jpg)
where mentors were thanked and put on the spot

where there was fun

and fun

and there, too, was a toast...

And this is why I love working where I work.

Tagaytay Friday
Friday, January 17, 2009: It was freezing in Tagaytay and my team braved the cold... but only for so long.
Philstar.com says, "Tagaytay City temperature is 15.8 degrees Celsius" and Chuvaness contemplates the extra chilly weather "...in what must be the coldest night of the year." And we had chosen this day, of all days, to go up the highlands! Brrrr!
@ Picnic Grove: It was tolerably chilly in the early afternoon.

And we stuffed ourselves silly with Amber's pichi-pichi and barbecue.

The wind started to get really fierce as the afternoon wore on, though.

And the wind blew on, angrier, as evening drew near. My hair became extremely tangled you could hear the crunch when I combed it.

Solution: a cap. (My cam was acting up at this point)

Tagaytay by twilight. Photography by Wowoo RaƱada.

Dinner at Dencio's capped the night for some. Here, Val and Cha were prodding me to look serene for a candid shot. In truth, I was shivering to my bones. Through chattering teeth, I was muttering, "hurry up! Shoot already!"

The real night cap was coffee at Starbucks. By then, though, we were too cold to take pics and one of us asked, in jest, of course, "is this Tagaytay or Alaska?"
Imagine what the Eskimos' life must be like!

Yellow, Shopping, Nintendo DS
Friday: dinner at Gerry's; Christmas gift-shopping
Saturday: you'd think it'd be over, but still did some last-minute gift-shopping--my list had suddenly grown so long! ;p
And, yeah, guess who's hooked on Nintendo DS?
I could hardly believe it myself but I found that I so enjoyed playing with the DS I bought for Jackie. It's my Christmas gift to her but I won't be giving it 'til after we arrive in Bicol, so meanwhile, Mommy will play! And the cover is a very yummy marshmallow pink!
I'm so lovin' Wordjong, Cake Mania, Cooking Mama and The Tamagotchi Connection.
This toy is so cool! Kim's PSP doesn't have that much appeal to me. Guess the DS is the one for the girls.

I was out Saturday night
This is me wondering if I'd be able to keep my eyes from drooping because of sleep deprivation. I knew it was to be a long night ahead...
I turned out to be as awake as everyone else. I was so kulit that night, I couldn't believe it. Conked out by midnight, though. I am so not the gimik type.
From left: the ever stunning Channa, moi, Cathie, who brought fantastic-tasting pork barbecue, Mother Lily, probably the nicest boss in town, RJ, who's 6 months pregnant but graciously joined the team-building, and Zal, who eventually got cajoled into singing America's "All My Life."
Not in the pics are Jeff, Marjune, Miguel, and Peach. Sorely missed were Tal, Myra and Cyr.

Me and my M4 Carbine
We-ell, it's not actually mine.
Thanks to Wowoo for letting me experience how it feels to hold a real weapon (I'm told that this is the kind used by US Marines) in my hands.
It's heavy, man! My arms would have become toned if I had held on to it for a couple of hours more, or so. The thought actually appealed to me, but I simply couldn't bear the weight. The longest that I could hold it up was five minutes, max. I couldn't imagine how soldiers manage to actually run around carrying this thing.
*thanks, Mae, for the photos.
